As part of her visit to the World Economic Forum, the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, visited the Variosystems site in Zizers on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. She was accompanied by Dr. Anthonige Anil Jayantha Fernando, Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, as well as representatives of the Swiss Asian Chamber of Commerce.

The visit to the internationally operating electronics manufacturing services provider highlighted Zizers as a key development and innovation hub within the global Variosystems Group. Covering approximately 3,600 square meters, the site combines engineering, rapid prototyping and small-series production. It serves as the Group’s incubator, where new products are brought to production readiness within a short timeframe before being transferred to Variosystems’ global manufacturing sites.

In addition to technological topics, education and training were a central focus of the exchange. The Swiss dual education system, which is firmly established at the Zizers site, was presented to the Prime Minister, for whom education is also a key political priority. At the same time, the close collaboration with the Variosystems facility in Badalgama, Sri Lanka, was discussed – particularly the cross-site exchange of expertise, methods and training concepts.

“The Zizers site plays a key role within our international group,” says Silvan Wüthrich, Managing Director of Variosystems in Zizers. “This is where we combine Swiss engineering expertise with global industrialization. We are very pleased that this approach is receiving recognition at an international political level.”

The visit underscored the importance of Zizers as a strategic hub within the global Variosystems Group and demonstrated how local excellence and international value creation are closely interlinked at Variosystems.
