Variosystems takes care of your electronics design, you benefit from the benefits

Reduced risk

We develop sophisticated solutions and support you throughout the electronics design process, from the initial concept to production readiness. Through sound architectural decisions, early feasibility assessments, and systematic design reviews, we manage technical complexity in a structured and reliable way.

DfX optimization from the start

We consider manufacturability, cost, testability, and obsolescence from the early stages of development. This results in electronics designs that can be manufactured efficiently, tested reliably, and maintained over the long term.

Faster time to market

Clear system concepts, simulation, and rapid prototyping enable early design validation and fast iterations through to production. Combined with our nearshoring options, this creates short paths between development, industrialization, and production ramp-up

A partnership of equals

For us, electronics design is not an isolated project but a collaborative partnership with you. We understand your requirements, take pressure off your teams, and make decisions with your product goals in mind at every stage.

System and architecture development for complex electronics

As part of our electronics design services, we help you make fundamental decisions about functionality, cost, scalability, and risk. We take a holistic approach to analyzing requirements, structuring complex systems, and creating an architecture that is technically robust and viable for the long term.

Our focus includes:

  • Defining power concepts and communication interfaces
  • Conducting concept and design reviews
  • Assessing feasibility, technologies, and costs
  • Incorporating DfM, DfC, and DfT considerations at an early stage

Drawing on our experience in highly regulated and technically demanding industries, we ensure that electronics designs and PCB layouts are developed with the relevant standards and application requirements in mind. Where required, we develop designs suitable for certification and provide the documentation needed for certification and CE marking.

Sound design decisions

We make PCB design decisions based on the interplay of circuit design, simulation, and component selection. This allows us to identify critical effects and optimization opportunities before they surface in prototypes or production ramp-up.

Our approach to design decisions includes:

  • Development and optimization of analog and digital, power, RF, and mixed-signal circuits
  • Simulation-based validation of functionality, timing, signal integrity, and power integrity
  • Optimization of immunity to interference, such as EMC, as well as environmental factors such as temperature and humidity, and overall reliability
  • Lifecycle- and supply-chain-secure component selection, including AML (Approved Manufacturer List) / AVL (Approved Vendor List), second-source strategies, maintenance, and obsolescence management
  • Documented schematics and clear design specifications

This validated development approach helps avoid costly redesigns and provides a reliable basis for informed design decisions.

Life-cycle-oriented electronics design

Our proactive life-cycle management ensures component availability and helps keep your electronics in production over the long term. Clear documentation also enables efficient, forward-looking product development and continuous improvement.

We support you with:

  • Analysis and debugging of prototypes and systematic identification of electrical root causes
  • Recommendations and implementation of technical optimizations related to performance, cost, and reliability
  • Modification and redesign of existing circuits, including reverse engineering of legacy designs or designs with missing documentation
  • Creation and maintenance of design specifications, schematics, bills of materials, test documentation, and approval documents
  • Life-cycle management including ECNs, revision and variant management, and traceable documentation of design decisions and compliance requirements

This creates a solid foundation for stable production and electronics that can be maintained over the long term.

Technology expertise and agile project management

Our electronics design services are built on broad technology expertise and an established tool and process environment. We develop embedded systems based on MCU and DSP platforms and integrate interfaces such as Ethernet, CAN, USB, and fieldbus systems. Our embedded software engineering is an integral part of the overall system. We develop the associated firmware closely aligned with the hardware to ensure that functionality, timing, and testability work together from the start.

For electronics design, we use Altium Designer with integrated version control and LTspice for targeted validation of critical design aspects. Projects are managed using an agile development model and implemented in close, flexible, and transparent collaboration with you.

Q&A

Every project is different, but the process follows a proven framework:

  • Inquiry and requirements analysis: Establishing a shared understanding of functionality, volumes, standards, and target costs
  • Feasibility study and requirements specification: Assessing technologies, risks, and development effort
  • System concept and architecture: Power concept, communication interfaces, and component strategy
  • Preparation for regulatory compliance: EMC, safety, and industry-specific requirements

You decide how many of these steps we take on.

We develop electronics for industries with a wide range of technical and regulatory requirements. These include Industrial & Automation, Medtech & Life Science, Aerospace & Defense, Smart Infrastructure & Environment, Mobility & Transport, and High-End Consumer.

Applicable standards, approval processes, and product life cycles are considered early in the development process.

Getting started is straightforward: tell us about your project. For an initial discussion, it is helpful to provide information about the intended functionality, target market, volumes, relevant standards, and timeline.

Existing documents such as requirements specifications, schematics, or previous designs can help accelerate the project start. If not all information is available yet, that’s no problem.

Yes. You decide which tasks your team handles and where we support you – from individual work packages to complete electronics design. Collaboration within a joint team is also possible.

This usually becomes clear at an early stage during the feasibility study and system concept phase. Rather than stopping the project, we develop alternatives, such as a different technology concept, adjusted requirements, or a revised cost and volume scenario.

You receive a reliable basis for making decisions before significant development budgets are committed.

It depends on the complexity of the project, regulatory requirements, and the maturity of the specifications. Following the requirements analysis, we provide a reliable timeline with the corresponding milestones.
