Variosystems China celebrates 20 years of global collaboration and successful growth
We celebrated the 20th anniversary of our China site with a special event in Suzhou. Together with customers, partners, employees, and guests of the Swiss Consulate, we looked back on two decades of development, close collaboration, and international growth.
Establishing the site 20 years ago marked an early and courageous step for Variosystems. From the outset, we aimed to support international customers not only from Europe, but also directly on the ground in Asia. Since then, the site has continuously evolved and is now an integral part of our global production and engineering network.
Despite our international growth, the connection to our Swiss roots has always remained a defining element. High quality standards, reliability, and close customer partnerships continue to form the foundation of our activities in China today. At the same time, we have built a strong local network over the years, both on the customer side and within regional partnerships and supply chains.
“Since establishing its first sourcing office in Hangzhou in 2006, Variosystems China has experienced steady growth. Following the relocation to our Suzhou manufacturing facility in 2013, we continued to expand the production capabilities. In 2022, Variosystems China fully implemented the Group’s ‚China for China‘ strategy and successfully transformed into a provider with comprehensive manufacturing capabilities. In 2025, the establishment of the Shenzhen Incubator further strengthened the company’s local R&D innovation and rapid response capabilities. Now, we look ahead with confidence to continuing our journey together and achieving even greater success over the next 20 years,“ explains Bruce Ding, Head of Operations Asia & GM VS China.
The anniversary day began with company tours at the Suzhou site. More than 40 customers joined the tours and gained insights into state-of-the-art production and engineering areas. This was followed by an “Exchange & Sharing” session, offering a platform for employees, customers, and suppliers to share perspectives on the development of the site and their experiences working with Variosystems. The conversations also focused on the current uncertainties in the electronic components market, the significant potential of the Chinese supply chain, and our ability to support customers throughout the entire electronics development value chain.
In the evening, the anniversary gala welcomed more than 70 customers and guests. The program featured official speeches, customer contributions, and cultural as well as interactive elements. In addition to presentations from Variosystems representatives, customers and representatives of the Swiss Consulate shared their views on the long-standing collaboration and the development of the site. A special highlight of the evening was a drum performance by the Variosystems China management team.
The event highlighted how closely our Suzhou site is connected to the international network today and how strong collaboration with customers, partners, and employees has shaped its development over the past 20 years.
